2017 NetGalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge

Despite reading a plethora of posts warning against the pitfalls of newer NetGalley users (in particular, don’t go request crazy!), I let my fingers go wild and requested, well, a LOT of galleys. And at first that was fine because I wasn’t getting approved for much. That’s generally the way it goes. Then, out of nowhere, I started getting a ton of approvals, including stuff that was a few months old that I’d essentially written off. While I admit “too many books” is the best kind of problem to have, this “deadline-oriented, hyper-focused on commitment keeping, highly prideful of being dependable” person has gotten behind, and I still have a huge chunk coming in the next six months. I’ve gotten my requests under control, and I managed to hold back on Edelweiss (though I have some catch up to do there as well), but I want to get to 80% (and stay there!), and more importantly, I want to honor my commitments. So, what better way to tackle this type of problem than a new challenge?!?

For 2017, one of the challenges I’ll be participating in – for the very first time – is the 2017 NetGalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge hosted by Bookish Things & More. The goal is simple: commit to a goal of reading a certain number of galleys from NetGalley and/or Edelweiss throughout the year! On a monthly basis, post links for your reviews on the host page, and voila! You make progress on your galley pile AND have fun participating with others in a yearly challenge. Why not, right?

I’m going for gold level, which is 50 books. I need 45 to get to 80%, and that’s assuming I request nothing else (yeah, right!), and at 50, it’s a little more than 4 books a month which leaves lots of room to read stuff from my TBR and new stuff that’s released throughout the year.

If you’re interested in signing up, click the button below, and you’ll get linked to the sign up page of this year’s host, Bookish Things & More!

I don’t know about you, but I’m eager to make a huge dent in my galley TBR. Bring on the new year!
