Genre: Mystery, Fiction

Rating: A

Note: As stated under the Source (above), I received this book for free from Touchstone via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review (and trust me, honest is always what you’ll get).

Summary: After a terrible diving accident that left Kyra Winthrop with amnesia of the past four years of her life, she finds herself on a remote island in along the Washington state coast, with her husband Jacob. There is a sense of familiarity about everything, but something doesn’t feel quite right. As flashes of her memory start to come back, she starts to wonder if she’s losing her mind or if things are being kept from her.

Review: This is one of those books that is difficult to talk about without giving things away, which I refuse to do, so I’m going to do my best. Here goes…

What a GREAT book! Almost immediately, I was engrossed in the story. The dynamics between her and her husband were strange from the get go, and it seemed so odd and particular that she should lose her memory of the exact number of years necessary to have no recollection of her husband. And now she’s on this island that feels familiar, where people recognize her, but she somehow feels not right, despite the familiarity. As little glimmers of could-be memory start coming back to her, reality becomes even more unclear, and she finally seeks the help of a therapist. She begins getting out more on her own, and more and more is revealed, until it all finally unravels and the veil is dropped.

By the end, I knew what she hadn’t figured out yet, but it was fun watching everything fall into place. There were some bits that were rather obvious, but not in a way that detracted from the story, or my enjoyment of it.

If you like a good mystery, one that will compel you to read it in one sitting, The Twilight Wife is a great choice.

It was much better than I had expected. I admit to being drawn to covers typically, but in this case I was drawn to the description despite not being a big fan of the cover. Really glad I didn’t let my meh reaction the cover keep me from requesting it. 😀
