Note: As stated under the Source (above), I received this book for free from Random House – Ballantine via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review (and trust me, honest is always what you’ll get).

Review: What a unique and interesting concept! While in the midst of participating in a brand new Survivor-ish type game show (multiplied times, well, a lot), the world is hit by a pandemic and half the population is wiped out in a matter of days. By this point, the production team has pulled so many unbelievable and unethical stunts on the contestants, that Zoo, in the middle of a solo challenge, doesn’t realize something has gone wrong. Or does she?

The story was well-written and Zoo was a perfectly imperfect protagonist. Once again, I see so much of myself in her struggle, not just to survive, but to piece together her past, present and future, who she is and who she wants to be. What really matters?

I read this in only two days! It was the right amount of suspenseful and provocative. An intriguing twist on the typical apocalyptic story.

My only complaint is the ending. I won’t say what I didn’t like about it because that would be giving away too much. I will say that it shouldn’t prevent you from reading the book as I think most people will disagree with me on that point anyhow, and the book on the whole is well worth the read.
