Note: As stated under the Source (above), I received this book for free from Touchstone via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review (and trust me, honest is always what you’ll get).
Review: This book has the makings of a series, and even though it isn’t indicated that it’s meant to be, I sure hope it will be. I love mystery/thriller/suspense with a strong paranormal bent, and I find Finley absolutely intriguing. While the mystery was solved, there are a lot of other questions left unanswered about Finley and her future, as well as a hint (or two) at a second mystery with Jason’s character. Seems to me that the door was certainly left wide open for us to see more of Finley in the future. Here’s hoping!
Loved the plot twist! Once it was spelled out for me, all those inconsistencies made sense and I realized that I had made a lot of assumptions because of the way the story was being told. Tricky, tricky, Lisa Unger. Good play.
In terms of intensity, I was never quite holding my breath, but I definitely needed to know what happened to those girls. And truth be told, I’m starting to think that I’ve grown impervious to the emotional rollercoaster that thrillers/suspense so often throw you on because this was certainly well written, and yet, as I said, no breath holding.
A new series with a supernaturally gifted protagonist is something I’m desperately in need of these days, and Finley fits the bill. So again, I say…bring me a sequel. I mean it!
More. Finley. Please.
And thanks. 😉
