Summary: Only a select few know when the mysterious Night Circus will be coming to town again, and those in the know must be there. There is no other circus like it. It is so unique and so astonishing that there are groups of fans who follow it around the world.
What most don’t know is that the circus itself is the result of a competition between two magicians (true magic, not card tricks) who don’t know who they are battling, why they are battling them, or what the cost will be to the loser. They only know that they have been training, honing their skills, since they were very young and competing is not optional.
Review: This book was delicious. Scrumptious. Like a dreamy confection so delectable it can barely be imagined. I struggle to find the words to describe how delightful this book is. I have never read anything like it, and I don’t expect to.
I love whimsy and magic (true magic, not tricks), or at least the idea of it, the possibility of it. Perhaps that is why I love fantasy, and that is very much what this is. Whimsical and fantastical and magical. It’s creative and lovely and pushes the boundaries of imagination. And it’s fun and sad and hopeful and full of love. There is not one thing I could say against it. A must-read that I will recommend over and over, and that I will be buying to read repeatedly.
And I cannot wait to see what she writes next!
