Currently On Hand

Currently On Hand (COH) is going to be a regular update (hopefully weekly and on a particular day-which currently remains undecided but is likely to be somewhere between Saturday – LIBRARY DAY! – and Monday) that, as the title states, shares what I currently have on hand from the library, what I am currently reading, and sometimes may include what I’m seriously considering reading from my own collection. On other reading blogs, I’ve seen similar concepts referred to as TBR (to be read – like you don’t already know that), but I feel like that indicates that I plan to read everything on the list, and then I’ll feel like I HAVE to read everything on the list, and then I won’t read any of it because – rebellious inner book-reading muse (at some point I will elaborate further, but for now, please see previous post Reading Selections). And, I’ll admit now that a) I will most assuredly not read everything COH (currently on hand) because b) I am a library book hoarder (for which I feel no shame because it drives up circulation, which can’t hurt when they are considering cutting library hours).

But I digress…I present to you my first ever Currently On Hand list:

  1. Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly
  2. The Magicians by Lev Grossman (currently reading)
  3. The Magician King by Lev Grossman
  4. The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman
  5. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
  6. Shifting Shadows by Patricia Briggs
  7. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
  8. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
  9. Outline by Rachel Cusk
  10. The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
  11. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  12. The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer
  13. The Monuments Men by Robert M. Edsel
  14. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
  15. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
  16. Fragments by Dan Wells
  17. We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
  18. Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline
  19. The Weed That Strings the Hangman’s Bag by Alan Bradley
  20. The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh
  21. The Passage by Justin Cronin
  22. Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt

The end of The Magicians is very near, and Station Eleven is next because it’s a current bestseller which means a) I can only have it for 2 weeks, b) I had to wait a long time for it, c) I can’t renew it, and d) my library charges .50 to check out (isn’t that really renting???) a bestseller, so it’s a rather easy choice. Then probably Shifting Shadows because, I mean, Patricia Briggs and shapeshifters. Need I say more? After that? Who knows? Probably a galley that isn’t even listed here because those are starting to pile up on me, and a girl has got to do her part. Right? Right.

So there you go. This is what’s currently sitting on my shelf – literally and virtually. What would you tackle first?
